Instructions for Creating a Health Plan

As I was sifting through my health textbooks, I realized that breaking down the terminology into simple, concise phrases would be a challenge. The steps for my how to guide would also have to be broken down into further steps. Here is an example of what I mean:

Needs Assessment

-          Look around your community

-          See if the needs of your community are being met

-          Collect data that will help find the true needs of the community.

o   Have members of community fill out questionnaires or surveys about their health behavior

I would have to have the overall step then explain that step even further.

Collaborative Project: Letters, E-mails, & Memos

When you write letters, e-mails, and memos a few tips to keep in mind would be to prepare your readers for the key information in your message by using a clearly worded subject line or opening sentence. The most important information should be in the opening paragraph so the reader is able to get the purpose of the message right away. The format of these documents should help readers recognize the organization and major points of the message. Always be concise when writing up these sort of documents. If someone has to read your message more than once to grasp the meaning, you are not doing your job.

Font and Color in Technical Documents

I decided to analyze an article from the Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy. In this document there is a serif style font all black on a white background. Serif fonts are good for this type of document because it makes it easier for the audience to read. The use of black and white is a good color contrast because the black stands out really well against the white background. This gives the document a professional appearance, which makes sense considering this report is to inform all of those who inhabit the Commonwealth of the decrease in teen pregnancy rates. To make certain portions of the document to appear more "important" without actually having to sit down and read the entire article, the creator of this work bolded such material in order for the reader to get the main point as well as captivate the reader to continue reading.
